Israel says it killed key Iranian commander involved in Strait of Hormuz blockade

Iran Navy chief dead, Israel says: The commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, a key figure behind the near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, has been killed, according to Israel’s defense minister.

• Kharg Island: An Iranian army commander warned that any ground warfare would be “dangerous and costly for the enemy,” as sources say Iran has been preparing for a possible US operation to take control of Kharg Island, a major economic lifeline for Tehran.

• “Get serious soon”: US President Donald Trump voiced frustration today with Iran, warning that time is running out for a deal. Administration officials have told CNN the US is working to arrange a meeting in Pakistan this weekend.

• Strikes in the region: Falling debris from an intercepted ballistic missile killed two people in Abu Dhabi as several Gulf states fended off attacks today. Meanwhile, Israel and Iran continued to trade strikes.
