Iran says it has seized two ships crossing Strait of Hormuz

 • Ships seized: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says two ships were seized in the Strait of Hormuz and transferred to Iranian waters. A third vessel was also reportedly targeted by the IRGC and is “now disabled off Iran’s coast,” according to Iranian media. It came after a maritime agency said at least two container ships were hit by gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz.

• Truce extended: US President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire with Iran — despite his prior vow not to prolong the truce. Trump said the US was waiting for a “unified proposal” from Iran’s “fractured” government.

• Blockade in focus: Meanwhile, Trump said the US would continue its blockade on Iranian ports, which Iran’s foreign minister previously said amounted to an “act of war.” The president said lifting the blockade would undermine the prospects of a peace deal.
