Iran says it’s ‘far from final agreement’ with US, as Strait of Hormuz traffic halts

 

President Donald Trump said he won't let Tehran "blackmail us" over the vital waterway, as the ceasefire deadline looms.


• US-Iran talks: The US and Iran have a long way to go before reaching an agreement, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told state television. President Donald Trump said negotiations were still progressing but hinted at frustration with Tehran, saying “they got a little cute.”

• Strait closure: Vessel traffic on the Strait of Hormuz remains paralyzed, following Iran’s announcement that it was again closing the vital waterway, alleging US “breaches of trust.”

• Ships under fire: Iranian gunboats fired on a tanker trying to pass through the strait and a second vessel was hit by a projectile, according to maritime authorities. New Delhi said two Indian-flagged vessels were involved in incidents and summoned its Iranian ambassador.
